Dr. Akshay D. Sonawane represented the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) at the 12th Shelf Life International Meeting (SLIM 2026), held from 8 to 11 June 2026 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain.
During the conference, Dr. Sonawane presented his research titled “Shelf Life Prediction of Fresh Fish Using Printable CO2 and pH Colorimetric Sensors Integrated with an Image-Based Web Application.” The work explores how printable colourimetric sensors and digital image analysis can be combined to monitor fish freshness and support shelf-life prediction.
Dr. Sonawane also introduced the NOVISHPAK project, explaining its objectives, international consortium, funding framework and ATB’s activities within Work Package 3 (WP3).
The presentation provided an opportunity to communicate ATB’s contribution to NOVISHPAK, demonstrate the project’s image-based sensor web application and exchange knowledge with international experts in food packaging, food quality and shelf-life research.
